Honoring the Life of Martin Luther King, Jr.

“He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it.  He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it.”  Martin Luther King, Jr.

The 116th Congress disregarded the voices of the early childhood field.  Once again choosing to fund foreign entities rather than American’s children.

We stand firm that all American children have the right to safe, high quality schools of early learning.  Congressional “pay for play” funding schemes lock families in poverty, hardening the line of inequity between those who can afford quality education tuition and those who cannot.   The hypocrisy of their empty words calling for unity, equal opportunity, inclusiveness does not leave us speechless.

During the month of February, we will examine this record breaking H.R. 133 – 1.4 T spending package.  We ask that you read the legislation for yourself, discerning why Congress could not find the funding for Early Childhood Education.

You are welcome to post your ideas on solving the impasse between when we know must be done and Congressional indifference. Clearly, we cannot solve this problem doing what we have always done – passively waiting in line.
